Groups and even single travelers can’t leave Medellin without having done the Guatape Tour. A beautiful and colorful pueblo, Guatape attracts thousands each year. This is done through its vibrant colonial town, man made lake and the beautiful stone of El Penol.
Guatape is booming with culture and its main attraction is a 7,000 foot monolith with 700 stairs. These stairs allow for visitors to begin a 20 minute ascent up this behemoth to witness a view you won’t soon forget.
Guatape Tour – What to Expect
You don’t need to be in shape for this tour so hangovers are fine (but brutal). The stairs take about 20 minutes to climb and once at the top you get to chill at a cool little lookout point where pictures (worth their weight in gold) will be in order.
The excursion isn’t just a drive out only to find you need to exercise. Guatape is much more than that. It is a whole day event where we’ll pick your group up at 9am, pack a bunch of road beers and take in the sites. We’ll enjoy the rock activity first, but once this is done your bilingual guide will bring you over to the colorful town itself. Here we will stop for freshly brewed coffee and learn the history behind the lake you see before you.
This tour is enjoyed by pretty much everyone but in order to really take advantage, we suggest the upgrade to the Guatape Boat Party. It’s a great way to wakeboard in this truly magnificent lake or cruise in a large pimped out pontoon with the crew.
