Due to current market changes and banned travel. Americans feel they have squandered away their summer for the betterment of mankind.
Travel restrictions have affected millions and the possibility of a European vacation seems bleak at best. Not to worry, though. Latin America is opening up its doors. Your perfect Colombian vacation is only about 5 weeks away. Here are 3 reasons for a Colombian Vacation after COVID 19.
Medellin Vacation
Medellin is South America’s newest hidden gem and visited by thousands in the year 2019. The city has gotten rid of the negative connotation associated with crime in the early 1990s.
But today, the city is famous in large part because of the Wall Street Journal in its 36 hours in Medellin special.
The city is booming with lush green mountains, amazing coffee, spectacular people, and great eateries. We’ve had the pleasure of living in Medellin since 2007. The evolution of the city has been nothing short of amazing.
Starting from the drive down from the airport you’ll see a huge city lodged between mountains. We have yet to see a group that isn’t in awe within seconds of this sight.
Stay in the booming Parque Lleras area where accordion players and delicious empanadas are a stone’s throw away. The area features the best hotels in Medellin. Along with brand new penthouses with unreal views of the Aburra Valley.
In the center of the Parque Lleras area, you’ll also find The Charlee Hotel. The best hotel in Medellin and their rooftop bar is a must-see for any Medellin visitor.
As far as What to do in Medellin, the daytime is full of activities. Tours such as ATVs through the mountains, paragliding in San Felix, and the popular town of Guatape. Every single one of these activities will have you never wanting to leave the city of eternal spring.
Once the sun sets, you’ll want to dance the night away at one of the many bars and nightclubs in Parque Lleras. Be sure to pack accordingly as the days are warm (85 degrees Fahrenheit). While nights tend to be a perfect 65 degrees.
Cartagena: A Fantastic City for your Colombian Vacation
Cartagena has been Colombia’s most visited city for over a decade. If last year’s numbers were any sign, the city keeps getting even more popular with tourists.
Known as Colombia’s historic city and home to some of the country’s most expensive real estate. The city features a walled city center that built in the 16th century to keep pirates out. A UNESCO world heritage site, Cartagena’s city center is a beauty to behold.
The best hotels in Cartagena are in the city center. Along with Cartagena’s best restaurants and nightclubs. Visit at any time of the year with a group of guy friends for a Cartagena bachelor party. Honeymoons in Cartagena have also become popular over the last few years.
When you compare it to Medellin, the city is more of a tropical destination. Cartagena has the Atlantic ocean as well as surrounding islands that make yacht Parties a fan favorite.
Rent a 60-foot Azimut and prepare to island-hop in style. These yachts tend to come with a skipper, first mate and some even have DJ booths for added VIP service.
During the day many explore the historic city center and bike ride through the islands. Or if you want to relax, visit one of the many beach clubs. You can also try ceviche tours, rum and cigar tasting in the center as well as cocktail tours.
The best restaurants in Cartagena happen to be among the best restaurants in Colombia. With Carmen, Club the Pesca, and MoshiCo as some of the frontrunners. There will be no shortage of great meals in Colombia’s historic city.
Colombia Travel Packages
Visiting Colombia is different from many other Latin American and Caribbean islands. Many expect Colombia to have all-inclusive hotels and resorts. If you’re that type of traveler, Colombia might not be the place for you.
The city of Cartagena has a few all-inclusive island resorts. But visiting Colombia requires you to do a little thinking and a lot of exploring. We want you to see the beauty of Medellin’s modern metropolis as well as the tropical paradise that is Colombia.
Colombia travel packages are tailor-made as we know there is no one size fits all for Colombian vacations. The city of Medellin is called the city of eternal spring. Due to the yearly average weather of 72 degrees and Cartagena’s tropical climate makes weather hard to predict.
The Best time to visit Medellin is pretty much any time of the year that isn’t Easter (usually the second or third week of April). As the religious population tends to go on vacation and a good amount of businesses are closed.
Cartagena even during Easter, though, the party doesn’t stop. Yet, the city’s high season tends to be December – March and then again from May to August.
If you prefer a bigger party, more people and don’t mind paying a little more, this is the best time to visit. But if you want a little more privacy and to at least feel you have the city and islands to yourself. Visit in September, October, November.
A Colombian Vacation in Other Cities
Bogota Vacations and Santa Marta Vacations are also popular. But, Santa Marta is more for eco-tourism. Bogota has an eclectic restaurant scene but the traffic can be unbearable. If you’re in Bogota for business, we recommend visiting Leo Cocina y Cava and Andres Carne de Res y Chia as fantastic restaurants.
This country is currently closed to all visitors. But writing this article makes us excited to announce that come September 1st. Both Medellin and Cartagena are scheduled to open again for tourism. So be sure to stay safe, wear your masks and we hope to see you down here soon.
