Listen up guys, you got invited to a Medellin Bachelor Party and you’re looking for a dope activity. You need to show your significant other back home that this trip was about sightseeing. And not, you know… This is where ATV Tours in Medellin come into play.
You’re looking for the perfect daytime activity that doesn’t involve walking, museums, or anything corny. Well, why not check out an ATV Tour?
Why an ATV Tour in Medellin?
Before we begin with our dos and don’ts, here’s a little background.
Medellin is an amazing city lodged in a valley with over 3 million people. There are dozens of surrounding towns most of which have farms and spectacular views. One of these towns is Rionegro. It’s where our international airport is located and home to some of the nicest farms in the state of Antioquia.
Here is where the Medellin ATV Tour was born and it is here where you’ll partake in the city’s coolest daytime activity.
Who can drive ATVs in Medellin?
As long as you’re over the age of 16 and aren’t a drunken moron, you can rent one of these quads. We’ve hosted groups of NBA and NFL guys and a lot of these guys aren’t as smart as you’d think. We take alcohol tests before these tours. So if you have a residual buzz before the tour, be sure you take one of your hangover-away pills.
Ok, so let’s not waste time, here’s our take on the DOs and DON’TS of ATV tours in Medellin.
Dos of ATV Tours in Medellin
Groups of up to 10 Guests – Unfortunately, the city is starting up as far as a bachelor party destination. This means there are only a handful of ATV tour agencies. For that reason groups of 15+ guests would have to take this tour for two separate hours which eliminates the fun of an all our frenzy.
Take the ATV tour in Morning – Easier said than done. But if you’re not here on a trip where you’ll have to wake 8 other guys up, we recommend scheduling this tour early. It’s a 45-minute drive up to Rionegro, 30 minutes while you guys get ready, and another 15 of picture taking. You’re only here for 3-4 days, let’s make it count and see the best of Medellin.
Book a private tour – There are a few agencies out there that will charge you less. These agencies have these group tours where you’re on the excursion behind someone’s 82-year-old grandma. Avoid these agencies at all costs. Make sure this is a private tour where it’s only your crew.
Tell your group that there might be a few quads with manual transmission – Out of the 9-10 quads available, there are usually 2-3 that need you to know how to drive shift. This usually isn’t a problem but good to know beforehand.
Listen to your instructor – As funny as it was to watch professional football players bust their asses. These accidents could be much worse. Please be sure to listen and follow your instructor. They’re here to ensure you’re safe and you take good care of the quads.
Bring a Go-pro – You’re going to need some dope video and picture content to bring back to the missus. You can’t get permission to go on these guy trips and not provide proof. The views are also pretty epic so you’ll want to record such a cool weekend experience.
Don’ts of ATV Tours in Medellin
Don’t take the tour if you’re hungover or drunk – Ahh yes, I have countless memories of clients getting into accidents because they didn’t listen to directions. ATVing is an extreme sport and there are still lots of people that take it lightly. You can get seriously hurt so be sure you’re awake and sober during this tour.
Don’t try and go on your own – An ATV Tour in Medellin is meant to be a group excursion. It’s an awesome guided tour but unfortunately, some guys want to head off and do their own thing. You’re going deep into a forest in rural Medellin. Where most people don’t speak English and where you’re all expected to start and end the tour at the same time. Don’t wander off on your own.
Don’t try and race – A lot of these accidents occur because two or three guys want to ignore directions and get all crazy. There’s no racing allowed, you can injure yourself and unsuspecting bystanders.
Try not to delay the rest of the group – If your tour is at 11 am, have breakfast at 10 and be ready by 10:45. I bet you have a few guys in the group that are likely waking up after a hard night. The tour is at a location 45 minutes away, be ready an hour before.
Don’t bring a female guest as your +1 – As much as you’re going to want to do this anyway, it doesn’t make any sense. You’ll have to spend an extra hour waiting for them to get ready and likely another half-hour teaching them how to steer. You also don’t want to have her appear in a group picture that can get leaked back home. You’ll thank me later.
Additional Info
An ATV tour in Medellin is the best activity for a Medellin bachelor party. Not only will you take in sights but shredding through the country behind a quad will make you feel like you’re living in the Narcos era.
You also don’t want to be one of those groups that all they did was congregate in Parque Lleras for Medellin Nightlife and say you did Medellin.
