La Isla (The Girls Club Medellin)

It is well documented that La Isla is Medellin’s most famous strip club. Located high up in Las Palmas (a sector of the El Poblado neighborhood), La Isla is lauded by amateurs and pundits alike.

The place is a huge warehouse-looking establishment. It could’ve been a Walmart once upon a time but its owners decided to service customers in a different way.

On any given night, you’ll find 80-120 girls gallivanting looking for a drink and a dance. Only this time, dances aren’t like at conventional US-style strip clubs.

La Isla is a brothel where the difference between dancing and going all the way can be an extra $20 USD.

The music is old and new school hip-hop, reggaeton, and whatever the girls who dance on stage request.

There is a middle stage and a plethora of tables that surround it. Every 5 minutes or so, a girl will walk onto the stage and dance for a few minutes. Once the dance is complete, she will walk by each table asking for a tip.

An accepted tip is $2,000 COP (approximately 50 cents). So upon entering, we recommend that you ask your concierge, or server to change your USD into pesos. You’ll end up with a stack of twos.

Liquor is of course a lot more expensive than at most traditional clubs. Expect to pay about $200 for a bottle of Don Julio or Black Label.

Fase Dos Medellin – A Close Second

Coming in at #2 we have Fase Dos, the adult equal of Rainforest Cafe.

Fase dos is a slightly least expensive version of La Isla. A bit smaller, half of the girls and closer to the action. We recommend checking this place out once you’re burnt out from all the reggaeton you’re going to listen to in a Parque Lleras nightclub.

But back to the girls, Fase dos has on any given night about 50-60 girls. In terms of quality, it’s about the same. We enjoy the strip club scene as an after-hours spot. Music gets better and some of the better ones also have the privilege of clocking in later.

Similar rules apply in Fase Dos. There is a smaller stage a few poles, and a VIP area. Every few minutes, girls will stop by your table asking for a tip after a dance. We recommend you ask your server to exchange about $30-40 USD to convert into Colombian pesos.
